On Monday 9th May 2016 the planet Mercury transited across the Sun. The event was visible from the America’s, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, most and of Asia. From start the finish the transit lasted around 7 hours so. The last transit of Mercury was in 2006. There will be another one in 2019 which is barely visible from the UK and the next one after that is not until 2032!
